Data were gathered through personal interviews with the use of a structured interview schedule. Results revealed that the awareness levels of the women grouped by community on specific health services varied significantly. These health services included immunization, pre-natal care, oresol use, nutrition, TB control and family planning. Actual and preferred channels of health services information varied significantly both with the service and fishing areas, but varied insignificantly with the market area. The majority (59.7 ) of the women reported easy access to government services, while 66.54 of them reported utilization of the same services. Utilization of these services ranged from zero to low level. Only 10.9 of them reported high utilization of the services. Various reasons explained the women's easy access to health services. The most common reasons for the womens easy access to health services were proximity of their place to the health centers and the availability of health personnel. The most common reasons for difficult access were overcrowding, far distance of health center to their houses, no money for fare, and uncooperativeness of the people. Suggestions to easy access commonly mentioned are putting up a health center in each barangay, personal initiative of people in the community and house to house service. The most common reason for not utilizing health service were absence of health center, lack of health facilities, and services were not needed because people felt okay. The most commonly mentioned suggestion for high utilization of health service was availability of the doctor at all times, and the establishment of a health center in each barangay.It is recommended that health programs for the communities be developed and that the people of the communities be involved in the implementation of the programs. With people participating, health service will be accessible to them moreover, they will be encouraged to avail of these services to their utmost.
